At high pH's iron is not readily available to the plant. Similarly at very low pH's magnesium is not readily available. There's no point adding more trace elements if the plant can't take them up. |

Question about Lemon Trees
"Rick" wrote in message ... What is the most accurate kit to use to check the PH levels? The majority of kits work well enough to give a good idea of the pH. Just be a little careful of the ones with metal prongs that stick into the soil, and you may find they measure moisture and light levels too. I've seen them a little innacurate. Pretty much can't go wrong with the ones where you add a liquid and powder to the soil sample. Always remember take samples at the root depth. |

Question about Lemon Trees
Thanks for the advice. The metal prong ones seem a little too easy and
cheap. "Andrew G" wrote in message ... "Rick" wrote in message ... What is the most accurate kit to use to check the PH levels? The majority of kits work well enough to give a good idea of the pH. Disolve a few spoonsful in a bucket of water and water around the plant's drip line. -- John Savage (news address invalid; keep news replies in newsgroup) |
