does anybody recognize these flowers?

saw them in the Melbourne botanical gardens, low growing in the shade.

looks like a rhododendron (sp?)

Agree with Rhododendron, but my guess it is one of the tropical/sub-tropical
varieties (vireya sp. ?)

could be...but the plant was quite small and not a tree shape. thanks
