What berries are these?
 

This shrub is growing in Sydney in the ex garden of a fellow that
liked to grow bush tucker.

The berries are about the size of elderberries and have a sweet,
slightly aromatic taste.

Can't find them in Cribb or Low.

Could it be a midgenberry? Said to be tastier than a blueberry, and
grows on a low bush no taller than about 1 metre.

It's a bushfood tree from Qld rainforests.

came by email. The plant is Polyscias sambucifolia (Elderberry Panax).
It is widespread occurring in forests and sheltered gullies down the
east coast and round into Victoria.

I don't think so! Not related to elderberry and with something in the
juice that burns the back of the throat.
