[IBC] Fixing bonsai pot problems
 

I have a few pots that my brother made for me. It was his first attempt and he didn't know that water retention could be a problem. The pots look nice on the outside and they have a drainage hole inside. The problem is that the drainage hole is higher t
han some parts of the floor of the pot. These pots retain a fair amount of water.

Is there anything I can do to correct this problem? I am afraid if I attempt to drill holes the pots will crack. I don't want to disappoint my brother by not using the pots. But I don't want any of my trees to die from root rot either!

Off the top of my head, plasticine placed at the bottom of the pot and
spread evenly should work, no?

In a similar situation, I used silicone caulking material to fill in the low
spots.

I use candle drippings from a white candle -- white because I
have no idea what might be in any dyes. If someone in your
family cans vegetables or fruits, paraffin wax works, too, but
everyone has candle stubs.
