There is probably more than one of us with dandelion bonsai (or accent
plants, as the case may be), but I have had the same one in a pot for nine
years. It is in a little 3" round pot, and it requires root pruning every
year, as it fills the pot with roots to the extent that water penetration is
a problem towards the end of each year.

It blooms faithfully each spring, and I always take it to whatever little
shows and demos that we have going on in the spring. It never fails to
elicit comments from the viewers, which range from humorous to hostile. It
has even inspired at least one member of a local garden club to pot one up
for herself. I would encourage you to pot one up too.

Anita tells me that someone on the list grew a bonsai dandelion and kept
it alive in a pot for several years. If that person is still on the list,
I'd love to hear more. I'm thinking of doing that this spring. After all,
it is a perennial.

Seriously... when you say bonsai dandelion, what do you mean.... just

In one of John Naka's books he discusses what to do
with dandelions as bonsai.

I had on for a number of years. Dug an established
plant, with long root. Coiled root in pot, the
following year(s) I started exposing the root until
quite a bit was exposed. The twisting was part of the
display. You have to be careful not to expose root
with too much taper or the thing will fall over. With
trimming, you can get multiple heads. Mine bit the
dust when the sprinkling system went bad.
