I'm on a plant diagnostician newsgroup, and someone wrote in:

"I received a question regarding slowing growth of Amaryllis by giving it a shot of vodka. I assume this would reduce water uptake."

I'll let you know if anyone answers the question. Perhaps we can adapt it to beer and bonsai.......
