[IBC] Height
It depends how big you want them to be, what species you are growing,
what sort of plant you are starting with, how long you want them to be in training before you bonsai them, what sort of pots you have or can afford and probably a multitude of other factors. Get a good book and read up on the traditional classification sizes. You can probably also find them on the web with a quick Google. How tall should I keep my bonsai???
That depends. Are you talking about just one tree or your collection? The classic rule is that a bonsai should be six times as tall as the thickness of the trunk at the bottom. However, very few amateur trees reach this ideal. In many cases, those proportions would look grotesque. In general, the fatter the trunk & the larger the leaves, the taller the bonsai.
