[IBC] Elm ID and care

Hi All,

I just got this elm. I was told it was a Cork Bark Elm.

Here are a few pics:
http://www.cyberus.ca/~g_will/Elm/Elm.htm

right now it is kind of weak as it hasn't been looked after very well for
the last few years. I'm going to repot it soon.

A search on the internet brought up Ulmus parviflora "Cortcosa" and Ulmus
neri. The latter, I suspect, might not be a correct name as it seems to be
sold by on-line malsai with no other info.

I'm looking for info on the care (winter protection, water habits, soil
preferences, sun ...)

Any info would be appreciated.

Regards,

Gordon Williams

I would treat it like a Chinese Elm. However, as far north as you are and
having just gotten the tree I would wait until danger of frost had passed to
leave it out overnight. In the fall I would let it experience enough cold to drop
its leaves and then give it winter protection. The winter temperature would
need to stay near 32 F to keep the tree dormant.
