Default Pyracantha Cuttings

I have to chop back a Pyracantha in my garden but have read here that
quite large cuttings can be successful with this plant.

My questions are what size cuttings can be taken (diameter and length)

How much leaf should be left on.

Ideally I'd like to get something 18 inches tall with an inch to 1 1/2
inched diameter.

Incidentally I have successfully airlayered branches this size in the
past from this bush but time precludes that in this case.

Any help gratefully recieved.

Cheers Gary (middle England)
