Harvest Festival in the Chicago Area
This weekend, Oct. 20-21 the Midwest Fruit Explorers (Midfex) is having their
Harvest Festival at the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe, Illinois. There will be a display of over 100 different kinds of fruit (apples, pears, paw paws, etc.) grown by Midfex members in their backyard orchards. A working cider press will be in operation. Apples and cider from an orchard in Indiana will be on sale to benefit the club, a not for profit organization. There is no charge for the show, but the Botanic Garden charges $15 per car for parking. You also have access to other shows and the wonderful plants growing in the Botanic Garden. On Sunday afternoon, we cut up the member apples for tasting. Sherwin |
