Hi. I am planting tomatoes and peppers and I have a bag of composted cow
manure that says it's 2-1-2. I had spread some sparingly around the garden
when I tilled it, but I wanted to take the rest and put like a small shovel
or two of it into the hole when I put the tomatoes and peppers in. Is that
overdoing it?

I was also considering using it as a sidedressing later in the season.

Manure is good for tomatoes. I give 1/3 wheelbarrow of six months old
manure to each tomato plant. It makes them big and strong, though I
think the taste is better when I don't manure. They are also plants
who will take the acidic conditions the manure will produce. So go
ahead and spread it with abandon. Don't know about peppers.
