Tomatoes with Potato Leaf

I know that Brandywine tomatoes have "potato" leaves (broad rather
than divided). Do any other types of tomatoes have this kind of
leaf?

The reason for asking: I bought my usual assortment of plants,
they're growing and setting. One of them, an "Aunt Ruby's Green"
has potato leaves. I'm wondering if the plant was mislabelled and
I really got an extra Brandywine.

This is first year we planted some heirloom tomatoes, including Brandywine.
It is true they have wide leaves, like potatoes. We are growing, mortgage
lifter, purple cherrokee, and pink brandywine. Len

Other types of tomatoes have potato leaves. Stupice is one.

I *think* Aunt Ruby's Green has regular leaves, but don't bet the mortgage money
on it.

Stupice has potato leaves. It's an excellent variety.

Several types of heirloom tomatoes have potato leaves. I would have to
walk 5 blocks to my plot to tell you which of mine do and it's 2am, so
that won't be happening; but chances are very good that yours is
labeled correctly.

I did a quick google search of "Aunt Ruby's Green", none of the sights
I looked at specified its leaf type but all claimed that it was a
delicious tomato(!)

My "lame" logic: It is considered a beefsteak as is Brandywine so
maybe they have have similar leaf types. Please don't flame me!

Several of the tomatoes I'm growing this year have 'potato' leaves,
and none of them are Brandywines.

According to the information in the heirloom tomato pages at Tanager
Song Farm, you got a mis-labeled plant. It says as follows: (Asterisks
are mine).
Aunt Ruby's German Green
Indeterminate-75-85 days. *Regular leaf*. Huge, vigorous plant. 12-18
oz, light green, beefsteak type fruit with slight pinkish blush on
blossom end. Pulp is light green with bright green gel. Excellent
flavor and texture, good slicer or for salads. An outstanding green
variety. Great production.

There are dozens of tomato cultivars with potato leaves, Aunt Ruby's German
Green is not one of them. However, the "heirloom" cultivars have a lot more
variabilty than hybrids. Potao leaves are frequently reported in cultivars that
supposedly have regular leaves. It is a ressive gene that doesn't pop up with
regularity. I am not aware of any green tomato with potato leaves, so if your
ripens green, save the seeds and you can introduce "Suzies Green Potato" to the
heirloom market.

Thank you all for the info.

Unfortunately the plant hasn't set fruit yet so we may never know if
I could have retired on the proceeds of "Suzies Green Potato"!

It's very vigorous and healthy though...maybe tomatoes are too much
to ask.

Aunt Ruby's is a regular leaf. Currently, there are, I believe, over 500
potato leaf varieties; in the last few years, I've probably grown over 30 PL
varieties.
