Having been on Tuesday....and made a point of finding that famous French
Iris nursery.
"Romance" is OK but I prefer the similar but pure white "Frost and Flame"
However "Noctambule" is spectacular and I want one.

They are all spectacular but I admit that I've never liked irises, my mother
had all sorts of colours in our tiny garden and they didn't impress me one
bit even as a pre-10 year old. We have some blue ones in our garden, no idea
where they came from. It seems hard to dig them up so they're left but the
blooms last such a short time and then look scruffy (like the rest of the
garden!) that I leave them. And I reckon that if they've succeeded in
growing from nothing in our poor soil and despite the scratching ravages of
the hens they deserve to stay.

But I don't like them.

Flags, however, are a different matter and I'd love to have them in our
pond. one year we did, then they left :-(

And I've never wanted to go to the Chelsea Show. I did stints at the
Harrogate Great Autumn Flower Show for years and watched with wonder as
exhibitors groomed every petal of crysanthemums with cotton buds. That's not
real life ...

There must be something wrong with me :-)
