Default July 3 - Golden Jubilee_0071.JPG

I usually take a walk in my "park" every morning with my coffee. Here,
the Agastache ("Golden Jubilee") is starting to bloom. I think I got
the original seed from the Stokes catalog.

I like this plant, as I've probably said before. It is very easy to
grow from seed. Actually, it self-sows readily, so you need to be
prepared for it to wander. This stand is now in its third year, and
you can see that it is so dense that weeds don't have a chance. It
does well in part-shade, as this is, and with the colorful foliage
(which is bright yellow early on) it has early-season interest and can
lighten up those darker spots. Now that it is at its full height (3-4
ft) it gets lavender flower heads.

Altogether, in my opinion, "Golden Jubilee" is a very useful plant if
you can tolerate its aggressive personality. I like.
