Hey Mary! How are you?

I presume you brought back lots of arctic pictures? I want to see 'em!

I'm back to Real Life now :-(

And of course I've lots of pictures of very small Svalbard flora but they're
still in the camera - on the card, that is. Haven't had time even to look at
them yet so I don't know how good they are. But yesterday I bought some DVDs
so that I can keep them ALL without compromising my pc with its titchy 400Gb
:-)

A problem was identifying them. I bought an expensive (but small) book about
Svalbard flora which had beautiful pictures (no I shan't cheat!) in
Longyearbyen then realised the text was all in Norwegian. My knowledge of
Norwegian is nil. But the book has the Linnaean names of everything too so
I'll be able to convert - given time.

The new Canon DSLR behaved beautifully and I learned more about its
functions in the first week on the boat than I did during the previous
months of reading the book. Didn't use the new tripod at all though, kept
forgetting to take it ashore!

It was all very exciting, especially when we were locked in the Rosenkrantz
Tower in Bergen ...

Don't worry, I'll bore everyone when I've finished the laundry and other
necessary domestic things. I could have got used to living the life of
luxury of a first class cruise dreamily

Mary
