As another experiment with macro, this is the close-up filter
attachment on a 300mm lens with a 1.4x tele-converter. This produces
an effective FL of 420mm, plus the close-up attachment. I have read
that not only will the close-up filter lens work well with longer FL,
but with the addition of a tele-converter you can get even greater
magnification. This was to try that out. Note that even at f22, I can
barely get the whole ½-inch flower in focus.

While I might have been able to get this kind of magnification with a
50mm lens and 25mm extension-tube, the glass would have been almost
touching the flower. In this case however, the front of the lens was a
good 15-18in. away.
