I often like to put them up as a wallpaper myself. I've got a 24" hi-res
monitor, which may be a little bigger than average, I don't know anymore. I
think most people are using bigger monitors these days.

Anyway, my monitor's instructions say to set it up for 1920 horizontal X
1200 vertical, which is a 16:10 Aspect Ratio. I've put some images that
large on it and it seems a little crowded to me so I experimented and
dropped down to 1680 X 1050 which is still 16:10 and I'm happier with the
results that way.

I put a 1680 X 1050 version of this pic on alt.binaries.pictures.scenic and
it looks like this on my monitor:
