Can the suckers shooting up all around it be cut out and start
new trees? Thank you

Dig them out with roots. They'll take off. I do this with hibiscus.

yes. jam them into wet soggy area and they will root. if you like the red twig you
will need to cut out 1/3 of the old canes .. young wood is red, old wood goes dark.
