Default Old phone #s -- was Newbie to Rec. Gardens

Me, too! In fact, the four numbers we had back then
are the same last four numbers my parents have now.
At least we didn't have 'party rings' (i.e., different
sounding rings for the different houses on the line.)


I can't imagine there were fewer than 10,000 phones in Albuq. in 1950,
but our number was 6488. Later, 3-6488, and then CHapel 3-6488. Why
did they eliminate the words? Who's going to write a song about
736-5000?
