Default Can I use used cooking oil?

Will any oil do for insect control? Has anyone used oil from fast
food places?

I don't use any oils from the cooking area becase all that I've seen is it
seems to draw more ants and other bugs into anyplace where it's leaked out.

Probably because of what's cooked in the oil. Chicken, flour, potatoes and
other vegetables. Maybe okay in the mulching area, separate from the common
mulching stuff. Different bin.

I'm thinking he wants to keep larvae from hatching by skimming the water
surface with oil. Seem like that much would work, whether adults would
also be attracted does seem possible.
