Default Forest Red Pansy Problem

My dog got ahold of a Forest Red Pansy and I thought it was dead because all
the leaves are gone and the other one I planted is doing good. Now I noticed
there is growth coming up from the bottom. See photo in
alt.binaries.pictures.gardens What should I do? Should I cut it back? Leave
it alone?

Thanks in advance!
