Grape vine on fence
I've got a grape vine growing all over my
backyard fence. It's doing pretty well there. Needs a lot of trimming to keep it from taking over the rest of the yard. This is in the Pacific NW. The fence is wood. It's getting to be time to paint it. I don't think I want to paint the vine, though. If I cut the vine off just above the ground, will it eventually grow back? Or do I need to leave a portion of the above-ground vine intact? I don't mind having to go a year or two with no vine, if it takes that long to grow back. Is there any time of year that is considered particulary good or bad for trimming grape vines? |
