Garden Vandalism!
I'm new at gardening and growing things, so this year I decided to try to
grow giant pumpkins for my first try at it. I had ordered some special blend of "Atlantic Giants" and followed about 300 pages of advice on the internet. I was watering 3 times a day, fertilizing once every two, training the vines, and I already got 3 plants with 2 pounders on them! Well....used too. I guess I learned today that growing pumpkins for the state fair is a competitive business.....someone pitchforked the entire patch today, 20 plants. Anybody else experience this? I'm so traumatized I'm thinking of growing tomatoes! -- Thomas Colson Raleigh, North Carolina, (919) 673 8023 |

I've never had that happen, but I'm sorry that it happened to you. The only thing you can do now is try to tell yourself that your first-time efforts must have had someone real worried to do such a dispicable thing. Maybe you were growing prize-winning pumpkins! I guess if you do it again next year, you'll have to enclose the patch in tall fencing and post armed guards around the perimiter. Shelly |

When I first started my Desert Iris Garden, I had at the time some 100 iris
plants and because I am the Trailer Parks Offical papers server, when ever I've done that, the people think they are getting back at the park by going out and ripping out name tags for the iris,(its happened 4 times) cut water hoses, road bikes over plants and just did whatever they liked to do. One reson I moved the garden from the end of the driveway to the desert field next door, now very little if anything is done to my plants. But I've got 300+ un-named iris now. -- In This Universe The Night was Falling,The Shadows were lenghtening towards an east that would not know another dawn. Identity "sig" in postings: Unless your posting through a chain of 10
"Mix Master" or "Cyber Punk" remailers in china and russia, using 1024 bit keyrings, any competent 13 year old can have your address, phone#, license plate, and shoe size in about 10 minutes. Ya'll'd be surprised at how easy it is to trace IP addresses to their physical owner. the pumpkin patch case: The police came out and said it's most likely that a vagrant came through, and was mad that there were no vegatables for him to steal. I have posted the following sign: "Tresspassers will be shot, survivors will be shot again" and sprinkled empty 12GA and .270 shell casings around the yard to fortify the image of a gun crazed gardener, and punji sticks in 4 feet deep holes around each surviving vine. Thomas Colson Similar happend to me 2 years ago, I was growing pumpkins that I had in my greenhouse(!), It was about all I had in that greenhouse beside some pepperplants. However, one day when I got home after working all day someone had smashed the panes on my greenhouse and destroyed my plants. I guess the the one who did this to me used a bat or something and trashed the whole place... There was nothing left, all my work was completly gone. So I know the feeling, I have never been more angry and sad...... Iam glad I didn't cached the *******s that day, if you see what I mean.. "des weges" wrote in message ... By the way howz the food at BLONDIE'S CRUISE-IN? Good, cheap, but they serve WAY too much! The last time we were there, my husband and I were just driving by and I decided I'd love somr french fries. So he went in and I sat in the car, after awhile he came out with a bulging lunch bag - he'd ordered a large order of fries, and at Blondie's, a large order is a *very* large order! We ate our fill, took the rest home for the three kids, they didn't finish them, so the dog got what was left. If you're coming to the Klamath Kruise June 27, 28, and 29, maybe you could stop in and check out the food for yourself. BTW, how'd you know where I live? Shelly |

BTW, how'd you know where I live? As one of my good friends says "No imagination." It's fairly simple, first you look at the headers of the posting made by the person you want to gather information on. In this case, the interesting headers in your post are X-Original-NNTP-Posting-Host: 111pm5.cvc.net X-Original-Trace: 22 Jun 2003 16:15:27 -0700, 111pm5.cvc.net NNTP-Posting-Host: 65.125.100.4 The first tell us you probably have dial-up access, since it appears you connected to port 111 on the lucent/livingston portmaster pm5. So you probably live in the local calling area of cvc.net A quick browsing of www.cvc.net shows that they focus on the Klamath Falls market. Additional their contact information listed on their website, and registered in whois shows an address of. Office Location: 2250 So 6th St., Klamath Falls, OR 97601 From there, we can assume you live in or near that area. So we next search for resturants listed in Zagat or the Klamath Falls local paper. Finally since you go by the name Shelly, we would then look for other posts you may have made on usenet, public mailing lists or website chat forums as either or If I had the desire and the time, I'd read all your posts, looking for more information about you. Maybe you once disclosed your full name, if so we'd check one of the many internet white page phone books for your phone number and address. Maybe someone refered to you as another online alias that would provide more clues. A cursory glance at your other usenet posts suggests you have interests in cooking, gardening and sci-fi books written by Robert Jordan. It's all just a series of detective steps. -- Sameer change the two in my email address to a 2, when replying |
