Default BUGS IN THE FRUIT

i have a couple of apple trees and one pear tree.......i have no idea what
variety either one is, but there seems to be a decent fruit set on all of
them.... unfortuneately, i rarely get to taste the fruit because: 1) the
apples don't get very big before they fall off, with all sorts of bug bites
over them, and 2) the pears seem to have been *stung* by some bug and rot on
the tree.... good news for the yellow jackets that hoover around the tree in
the late summer/early fall...bad for me, because i really like pears....

i have been told that i need to spray them... these are fairly big trees....
the pear tree is about 15-18' tall and the apple is at least that tall.....
when do i spray them and with what solution....
i like the trees for shade and decoration.... but i would like to get at least
a couple of apples and a few pears to munch on....

thanx in advance......

apples get wormy and useless without a spraying program, but your pears may be that
you arent picking them early enough. they are picked rock hard, not when they are
ripe. find an orchard in your area and find out what and when they spray. Ingrid
