Default More name that plant...

This plant is an evergreen that put out some small, black berries
sometime this Spring/Summer. It has stumped some of my greener-thumbed
friends. It's in Seattle.

karen is correct - definitely Daphne laureola, aka spurge laurel. Most
likely planted by the birds as it is a weedy plant and seldom offered for
sale.
