Maybe they do present some etiquette rule but the crude dude (Spike
Hernandez = Robert Stewart) who runs GW doesn't bother follow them at all. He runs it like a power crazed despot He's all too willing to arbitrarily banish anyone for no reason at all without any warning nor explanation. contributors and entire threads mysteriously completely disappear? People without any long term memories are just perfectly suited for Gardenweb!!! why do you respond to that over the top stuff? it really is pointless and all the
harangue has nothing what so ever to do with you any way. evidently some people dont feel gardening is exciting enough and need to rev their engines in other ways. yes, I too have heard that many web chatting sites are heavily moderated and I really dont like them either. I save messages from this list (got a whole separate folder for yours!!!). And if you do wander off to those web lists and leave us here I will track you down!! Odd, that there is always someone who is confrontational throwing nazi and evil and such about. I used to have a channel on IRC, and there were always a bunch of folks who insisted on coming into the channel, being rude, crude, or lewd, or all of the above and who were always insisting that they didn't do a thing, and no one had a right to kick them out of anywhere. Never could get the idea that folks were only welcome when they didn't disrupt the channel and that when someone set up a channel, or a chat group or forum.. that it was the property of the person or persons who set it up, and they did have the right to decide when someone wasn't welcome. Of course when I booted them I got called all kinds of names. Oh wah. I developed a real thick skin. Too bad the rude ones didn't catch on that It would be like wandering into someone's house and plopping their butt on the couch, grabbing food from the people who lived there, making a mess, being incredibly rude, and abusive, and then getting mad when the people who lived there objected. He learned the more rabid rhetoric of Jew-hating from his youthful admiration for leaders of the Christian Social Movement in Austria; & from the Christian Social Movement he learned how to rationalize a belief that Jesus was an Aryan, not a Jew, interpretting the "money-lenders" story as about ALL Jews when Jesus cast money-lenders out of the Temple (or all Jews out of Israel, as would any good Aryan). Hitler did not believe killing Jews & gypsies was at odds with God's Commandments because non-Aryans were animals, not human beings, & God's law did not prohibit the slaughter of animals. He learned all this from being a Christian from generations of Christians. After his rise to power it did bother him that the seat of Catholic authority was Rome instead of Berlin as he would prefer it. Of which I appreciate and At my school, I learnt that he had a Jewish step-parent or some such, so you're not the only one who's been edumikated with questionable information. It wouldn't surprise me if such things are in a lot of textbooks. The was a story on one of those news programs (Dateline, Nightline, something like that) on how a lot of textbooks used in other states have to pass muster in a let's just say not unbiased selection process in Texas first. As I am not 100 years old, I don't know if it's a myth or not, and really I don't care. I don't see how it would matter, either, unless you like to believe pseudological statements like "Hitler was a Jew, Jews must be evil" or "Hitler was not a Jew. Jews must be good." |

Nashville, the Athens of the South as it was known as when I was growing up there. And I lived in the middle class suburbs. I didn't even know what Jewish people were until my dad worked for a boss that was Jewish and he was a really nice man. My information was based on what I was taught in high school in my world history class by a WWII vet who'd decided to be a teacher after he got out of the service and thru Belmont College. If he gave us misleading information it wasn't the first time nor will it be the last. Everything isn't taught in schools anymore sad to say. I didn't know or care to debate the correct information. I was being raised by a woman whose brother was killed during the war serving under General Patton and blown up in his tank. She didn't even get her hatred right. She didn't hate Germans, she hated Japanese people........I never figured that one out and didn't try. I didn't have a problem with anyone other than bullies and assholes. And they came in all colors and nationalities. And they still do. So you sympathize with the Brown Shirts, eh? How can you presume to accuse me of this when I really don't know what the brown shirts WERE???? Hi, I'm new to forums and just wanted to say I totally agree with whoever started this thread saying GardenWeb sucks. Too true. Spike the tyrant kicked me out because the title of one of my posts wasn't specific enough. The strange thing is that I see people breaking the rules, even Spike does from time to time, but none of them ever get in trouble. I guess it just depends on his mood.

I suggest you clear you cookies (that dont sound right -- Gardenweb would ban me for that), and your browser history files first. They probably cached your account locally and you'll need to delete yourself from your machine. There's a lot of good stuff on Gardenweb, but you can get to it without being a member, so its not a requirement. Considering some of the stuff that goes on around here, I can see how some people would like it nice and quiet, and like protection from the trolls. Still, Spike seems to be a bit thin skinned for my tastes. I dont uderstand the "no warning at all" type bans. Not even a notice to clear up your act. Swyck |
