Default Is My Global Yew Really Dead?

We had a very hot and dry summer here in the midwest. One of our global yew
shrubs turned completely brown a couple months ago. However, when I bend
the branches on it, they flex rather than snap and break. So, has it just
gone dormant and will it turn green again? Or, is it dead and I should just
dig it up and plant a new one?
