Why do people burn (light on fire) there grass?
When I was in Mississippi in 1981 I drove buy this guy who was burning his
grass (not the clippings) which was a controlled grass fire. It was dry and the grass burned and he had a hose which was directing where the burn was going. If I remember it was a 200 x 200 area. Is there any particular benefit to this? I did a search but did not turn up anything. It was done either late fall or late winter. Thanks Greyhound Tampa, FL |

I think, although I am not a hundred percent certain, that they do it to
get rid of the thatch. So the thatch burns away, but the grass w=hich has roots in the ground regenerates. I think I read that somewhere. I've also read that it's not toogood for the grass.
