Slc Hazel Boyd 'Yellow Orb'
Was Slc, now is Gsl. Hazel Boyd 'Yellow Orb'. Most everyone has or has seen
the red Hazel Boyd, which Fordyce says was the best cross he ever made (until he made Sc (was Slc) Circle of Life.) But every now and again the genes connect in different ways and we get yellows! If I was a better grower it'd have flattened out more. This is one I almost lost. The new growths kept turning black and damping off. I tried growing it in straight 'gorilla hair' - another name for the common garden ground cover made from redwood fiber - and it perked up a bit, but then I repotted at the right time (as the new roots were emerging) and I was rewarded! Attention to detail! That's what's needed! K Barrett |
