Baby Robert
Not orchid related, but probably not unexpected by rgo regulars:
Just to let you know that baby Robert was born on December 27th. He is adorable. I will try to post a baby picture to abpo someday when we get a bit more organized. For now we are living in the strange state of new parenthood that involves almost no sleep, what with the feedings and the changings, and almost nothing gets done. Luckily we have been getting a few welcome visits from friends who have been assisting us with such things as feeding the parents or decluttering the war-zone ... hmm, I mean the condo, and other things which might not have gotten done otherwise. As a result, during one such welcome helpful visit, I was able to water a few orchids, concentrating primarily on those that were overdue to be watered already, that need frequent watering, and that are small enough for me to lift (since I am not supposed to be lifting anything heavier than the baby for the next two weeks, and a few of my larger orchids in clay pots I think may well be heavier). I am going to bed now to try to catch some shut-eye myself. Best, Joanna |

Congratulations! Being a new parent can be frightening, rewarding, exciting,
exhausting, and demanding. Remember to water and fertilize regularly and he'll grow up to be a healthy, well-adjusted little orchid. Happy New Year! Reka,
Thanks! We are indeed greatly enjoying him. Joanna "Reka" wrote in message .. . Congratulations, Joanna! Glad to hear that you are all doing well, under the circumstances. A bit of knowledge: as the Robert grows, so do the problems - but also the joys. Enjoy him as long as you can before having to go back to work. Every smile and burp! -- Reka This is LIFE! I looked back to find where you said your due date ... Jan 4th. Then I checked to see when you last posted a message here ... Dec 23rd. I decided I would wait until the 4th and then start asking if anyone had heard from you. Now, here you are with the good news. I'm very happy for you. Steve |

Baby Robert
Congratulations, Joanna! Regardless of how organized and ready we think we
are, the arrival of a new baby on the scene is no less traumatic than taking in a pack of cougars! Things will settle into a routine in no time flat, though, and suddenly all those visitors will be less welcome, LOL. Just think: he has all these aunts and uncles at rgo and abpo! Diana |

Baby Robert
Diana,
Well, our Robert is better behaved than a pack of cougars. In fact aside from occasional lapses, he has been a fairly unproblematic baby thus far. The time when visitors are no longer welcome has not come yet, but I hear you when you say that at some point it shall. Best, Joanna "Diana Kulaga" wrote in message . .. Congratulations, Joanna! Baby Robert
Tom,
My husband's name is David. And I agree that fathers are due a tremendous amount of credit. I cannot imagine going through all this as a single mom. David is being marvelous, sharing all of Robert's care, including supplemental feedings which are greatly appreciated especially at 3am at night. Yes, you are a continent away, though I used to live in the SF bay area myself at one point, and still have family there, but now I am glad to be here, especially since I hear that the weather in your area is not very pleasant now with all the rain.
