Phal ID?
Hello everyone,
I have two small-flowered Phal hybrids here that would like a correct name tag. No, they didn't come from a hardware store, so I think there is hope . First one comes from a breeder who sold it with a made-up name (Dorithaenospsis [sic] Twiggy), second one comes from a Phal collector who can't remember the name and gave it to me for free . 1): This one has small flowers about an inch across, and broad leaves about ten inches long, multiple spikes. http://www.chaotropic.net/pics/galle.../kuntrarti.jpg Could this be Phal Kuntrarti Rarashati (equestris x venosa)? I compared it to these: http://www.urban.ne.jp/home/orchids/...hal/Pha.KR.htm http://home.fr.inter.net/~brochart/e...s/02ph0382.jpg and I think it looks pretty similar. 2): This one has flowers a bit smaller than an inch, blood red lip, and the plant looks and feels just like a Doritis pulcherrima. The spike looks like Phal. equestris, and I do think there's a lot of equestris in here. http://www.chaotropic.net/pics/temp/runzel.jpg top petal straightened (it has since come forward on its own) http://www.chaotropic.net/pics/temp/runzel0.jpg lip: http://www.chaotropic.net/pics/temp/runzel0a.jpg side view: http://www.chaotropic.net/pics/temp/runzel3.jpg entire plant: http://www.chaotropic.net/pics/temp/runzel1.jpg Any ideas?
