I have a D. kingianum which was badly sunburnt a year and a half ago. It
has since been growing like wildfire in a 1 gal. pot, and replaced all the sunburnt leaves, but the problem is that it's growing mostly keikis, with only 3-4 blooms from time to time. It has had good sun exposure in my GH, and I use 1/2 strength Schultz orchid fertilizer every other watering. Any ideas on how I can encourage more profuse bloom? Remove the Keiki's? Perhaps it's putting all it's energy into making babies
instead of flowering? Just guessing, Mariana "tbell" wrote in message ... I have a D. kingianum which was badly sunburnt a year and a half ago. Kye,
So that's what is why my Den. kingianum has never bloomed. Will have to put it outside when temps drop. Welcome back to the forum. Have not seen your postings for a while. "VERY" cold is rather relative. I pur mine through a rather dry (never dried
out) and very cool 40-50 degree F winter. Check out the link for the results. I understand they can tolerate mid 20's but I've never tried it. http://gwills.members.atlantic.net/O...num/index.html Gary "Kye" wrote in message ... Where they grow here in Australia, they get snow over them in the winter..
Whatever that happens to be in farenheit Kye. "V_coerulea" wrote in message ... "VERY" cold is rather relative. I pur mine through a rather dry (never dried out) and very cool 40-50 degree F winter. Something can just get blanketed by snow and thus insulated from falling temp. while some dry Frost can get so cold as to turn leaves black. SuE http://orchids.legolas.org/gallery/albums.php |
