Default How to get worm free sour cherries without ever spraying

About 5 years ago I started to harvest the sour cherries from this
particular old tree. I myself started about
15 of my own sour cherry trees but they just do not produce like this
old one. Seems as though an old fruit
tree is always better than these young ones. But anyway, when I
started to harvest about every 8 out of 10
cherries had a worm inside.

Since I am an organic grower, I thought I might try a method to
eliminate these worms. So what I decided to
do is to harvest all of the cherries just when a few became obviously
ripe. Eat the few fresh and cann all the
rest for a treat in the wintertime. And as I harvest to remove any bad
looking cherry. So my plan is basically
to keep the tree clean of insects that live as a worm inside the
cherries.

When I harvest, I cut open each cherry to inspect for a worm and
remove the pit. So 5 years ago the average was
about 2 good cherries out of 10 picked. Nowadays the average is about
49 good cherries for every 50 cherries
picked. So the method works very well, and I started to see results
not just this year but last year also, only
it was not 49/50 good cherries. So anyway, instead of rushing to a
sprayer with chemicals, the moral of this
story is to conceive a plan and execute the plan and wait for good
results.

So there are probably alot of fruit trees that are wormy and insect
infested for which it is due largely to neglect
of proper maintenance. That the tree does not need a load of
chemicals, but only some plan to remove bad
fruit and diligence in harvesting.

Now perhaps the moral of this story carries over to family life as
well. That to keep our sons and daughters from
going rotten, if the parents set a diligent and perservering track of
watching and encouraging and gentle
guidance, that our daughters and sons will not go rotten. But alot of
parents do not give that time.
