Many plants are known to produce hypoglycemics. Some of these compounds
have been used to develop drugs.

Plants don't produce these things for the benefit of mankind. They produce
them as feeding deterrents or to poison herbivores. You can drop your
blood sugar to dangerous levels taking hypoglycemics, either in pills
or in herbs. It's a lot riskier taking herbs, since you have no way
of determining the amount of active ingredient, which can vary by orders
of magnitude depending on how the plant was grown and how the herb was
harvested and stored.

If you have a medical reason to lower your blood sugar (i.e. diabetes)
you should work with a doctor rather than screwing around on your own.
If not well controlled, diabetes leads to kidney failure, blindness,
heart disease and amputations.
