Can you identify this flower?

From Sandia peak in New Mexico:

There weren't any others like it in the area.

Well, it's one of the "paintbrushes", snapdragon family Scrophulariacea,
genus Castilleja. Maybe "southwestern paintbrush" Castilleja chromosa?.

Not growing up on Sandia peak. It would be Castilleja integra, a bit
earlier than most, but even so, the example is just beginning to
bloom. Note the white tomentum on the stems, and non-divided
leaves. C. chromosa has a few lobes on the upper leaves, and redder
bracts.

Sean, also in Albuquerque.
