Default Need nelp with liner patch

How do I get pond liner patch to stick? I drained a half-barrel with a
leaky liner and bought some of the really sticky one-sided patch to
cover a hole. I scrubbed the liner and let it dry, applied the patch,
waited a few hours, and filled the barrel.

It's been a couple of weeks and the barrel is leaking again. I drained
it and found that the patch is coming off.

I'm not sure what kind of liner I have. I think maybe its EPDM. I
bought it as a "remnant" at a pond store to line the barrels. It's
black, fairly flexible, and has sort of a woven texture to it.

Thanks for any help.

If you find the answer let me know. I fixed a few punctures near the top of
a liner and the patches came off in less than a week. :-( Fortunately
when I clean it (680g tank) next spring I can move the liner 2" to 3" and
the holes will be over the top.

I think you may have the "newer" ( not better IMO ) pond liner that is
layered (can't remember name) - EPDM is not textured, at least that I can
see ( it's like a car tire inner tube and can be repaired as such)
Gale :~)
