Default Sweet Flag questions

Just picked up an overgrown Acorus Calamus (Sweet Flag) and have some
questions. The rhizome on this particular plant is over a yard long with
several full grown plants along its length. What is the best way to
seperate and pot these daughter plants? Should I toss the rhizome after
its been cut? Or keep the rhizome as is and break off/cut the daughter
plants? This/these will end up in a shallow pond with about two inches of
water over the pot. Thanks..m
