Default Ponds & leaves

I'm building a pond ... or rather sinking a pre fab. job with a
small feeder one in rockery behind. Problem is the site has leylandi
and neighbours tall laurel hedge which overhangs .
These leaves tend to blow all over the show in strong winds .
I'm hoping to have fish later on and wondered if these leaves will be
harmful to them - don't really want to cover with net etc. only in the
autumn if I have to.

Any tips on construction / layout would also be most helpful.

Many thanks for any help

A Skimmer is probably a must, and a net in the fall as well

A section of fence around that side of the pond to block the leaves
and hide a bio-filter. Then put in the rock ple or rock garden. I have
a rock garden around three sides of my bio-filter supported by cement
blocks and topped by hossta. The front side is my water fall. Happy
water gardening.
