I have a large goldfish/lily pond of about 2500 gallons( i made this a lily
pond when my koi reminded me they love to tear things up) It has a one or two
stone depth, gravel bottom. I direct planted 2 lilies last year. A colorado and
an arc en ciel. they both have just taken off like I have never seen befor.
Yesterday the Colorado had 6 open blooms and 4 buds on it !!! It is drop dead
gorgious( or however you spell it) It is truely a natural pond, and also has
some anacharis, frog bit, hyacinths, lettuce, and a little blanket weed (
string algea) I would guess it is about 95 percent coverage. My koi pond
(15,000 gallons) is really a success this year. Last fall I filled a milk
crate with anacharis, and set it upside down on the bottom of the pond with a
concrete block on the top to weight it down. The anacharis was able to grow
huge over the winter, and actually grew faster than the koi ate it or tore it
up. I now have a patch of anacharis that is about 3'x6'x3 feet tall. The koi
really spawned into it, and I can see over 1/2 a dozen babies darting in and
out of it. Ahhh all is well with the world today ....now if the ponds just
don't flood with the tropical storm ) Jerri
