Thank you for an excellent laugh. It's been a rough week, and I
needed that.

That's a riot! What's even funnier is someone
paid good money for it.

I heard from somebody else "Believe it or not, NPR ran this story on Saturday and
actually interviewed the seller. I think it was the first time I've ever heard the
words "router table" used at the same time on National Public Radio."

Maybe a form of consumer reports right on eBay? Ingrid

I listen to NPR a lot (not so much on the weekends,
though) and hadn't heard that one. I did read the
whole listing since we own a router table and I had
an idea of what the seller was talking about. Ryobi
is a good name in tools so I was surprised at the
criticism of this table.

among tool "nuts" there is a lot of discussion of good tool makers who either sell
their company off or get a CEO in there going to run up the bottom line by cranking
out cheap crap and using the good name of the company to sell the cheap crap. that
is apparently what happened with Ryobi. at least with the router table. Ingrid

Sounds like the "Fast track MBA" craze that destroyed so many
companies back 20 yrs ago.

Get hired on the basis of a bunch of glowing reports

Do a bunch of dumb (long term) stuff that gives a great return for now.

Stick it on the resume and get another job as soon as possible.

Be on the fourth or fifth job by the time the chickens come home to
roost.

I hated working for fast trackers. It meant the company was going to
go belly up in a year of so.

My friend has been in construction/carpentry for years. I sent him the link,
he wrote back, he had owned one years ago, and was glad his neighbor had a
sense of humor, it threw a chunk of wood across the yard at him....
