I'd get him out next spring, they are Koi killers later in life. I
think they are illegal here in California, as they become HUGE and
people put them in lakes and streams and the begin to hunt indigenous
species with great success.

Since koi get about three feet or large, unless the pond is severely restricted
in size, I see no problem with raising these two fish together. In fact my koi
are juveniles (not quite one foot in length), while my albino channel cat is two
feet in length, and weighs about 6 lbs. I've had no problems with them. being
in the same pond. In fact, he's in there with goldfish as well. The key is to
make sure that the catfish is kept well fed.

I'd get him out next spring, they are Koi killers later in life. I
think they are illegal here in California, as they become HUGE and

That is, of course, your choice. I've not had any problems. The koi are much
too big for him to eat, and even if he decided to munch on a goldfish, I'm not
concerned about them because they breed like rats.
