you all have noooo idea how tempted i am to run out and gather clippings of every rose plant i have RIGHT THIS INSTANT. Way to go! What kind of rose is it and how did you do it? i've honestly forgotten . it was a stem i accidently broke off a cane while deadheading. i believe it is a tequila sunrise miniature, but i'm just not going to know until next year- oh well. I have tried the baggie method several times with abject failure each time, and i've read about using mason jars, so i mixed up a pint pot of potting soil, sprinkled about a tablespoon of rose-tone on there and screwed the 1/2 gal mason jar over the stem- that was about 6 weeks ago. maybe rooting hormone would speed it up. all the leaves it had fell off, and i basically forgot about it- it just sat out on a semi-shaded table the whole time. i watered it fairly regularly- i never let it dry out, but didn't pay too much attention to saturation levels. there was always condensation in the jar. i'm going to try another one before the frost carl carl |
