There are several ways to get iron to roses that show signs of iron
deficiency.

1. Use specialized foliar sprays of iron compounds

2. Use iron sulfate (a cheap product, 5lb for maybe $3-4 dollars)

3. Acidify the soil with garden sulfur (akaline soil binds the iron
into
an unusable form, but a change to acid conditions will free the iron
in the soil for the plants to use. Also an inexpensive method)

4. Use fertilizers that contain chelated iron. (Miracle-Gro is one
brand,
but there are others.) Mir-acid may be a good choice for very alkaline

soils, but I'm just guessing about this.

It really isn't any use to put metallic iron--nails, steel wool,
iron filings, etc--into the soil: the iron has to go through a number
of
chemical changes before plants can use it. "
