Buy Tomato Plants?
I'm looking to put in my fall tomato plants, but can't find a source.
Does anyone know where I can buy some? Cheers, Ed. |

I asked the same last week. They aren't available right now, at least
not at the places I looked (Lowes, Home Depot, Barton Springs Nursery). The word I got is that they'll be available in July-August for fall planting, if you plant them now they won't produce because it is already too hot. Take that with a grain of salt, I am no expert, I am just telling you what I was told. andyd On 22 Jun 2005 14:24:39 -0700, "ed" wrote: I'm looking to put in my fall tomato plants, but can't find a source. There is a small nursery on HWY 2657, between Briggs & Copperas
Cove. If it's not too far to drive, I remember the lady saying that she supplies a local tomato grower with a special summer variety. Can't remember the name of the place, but they had a lot of nice looking stuff - and the prices were "really" good. Wished I could remember the name & phone number ... Thanks for the tips. I was going by the Travis County planting
schedule which says to plant tomatoes starting in the second half of June through July. Perhaps the nurseries know something that Travis County Extension doesn't. Next year I'll know to start some of my own seeds so I can try it myself! =) Cheers, Ed. |

Maybe the Extension Service is expecting you to plant seed now, rather than plants; that'd work out about right with what the nurseries are saying. DT http://www.thehungersite.com/ |
