Default website announcement question

Is a one-off on-topic commercial website announcement allowed in urg?
I've checked the charter and that says it's ok but having never seen
an advert... I don't want to annoy anyone if ads aren't appreciated.

I've checked the charter

which states -

ADVERTISING:

Advertising is not welcome, with the following exceptions:

Suppliers of UK-relevant gardening equipment, services or plant
material may post a pointer to their website or invitation to
request a catalogue. This may not exceed four lines. This may be
posted no more often than once every three months. The subject
line should begin "AD" or "ADVERT"

Participants in discussions may include references to their
garden-related business in their .sig (max. four lines)

and that says it's ok but having never seen
an advert...

Because we (well, some us) tend to jump on people who don't follow the
rules of the charter - and that seems to be most of the people who have
put adverts here.

I don't want to annoy anyone if ads aren't appreciated.

Read the charter and weigh up, if you do advertise, whether or not your
advert will generate business or do the exact opposite!!

I won't respond to private emails that are on topic for urg
but if you need to email me for any other reason,
put jandg dot demon dot co dot uk where you see deadspam.com

What refreshing courtesy and consideration :-). Just follow the
instructions in the charter, especially re the header.

Janet.
