Default Pentapetes phoenicea

I've been trying to grow Pentapetes phoenicea (Scarlet Mallow) as a
half-hardy annual with year, without success - the plants are still only
a few inches high. So, it becomes an attempt to grow them as half-hardy
biennials.

Any advice as to how they may be successfully overwintered?
