Its appears to be a daisy with all ligulate flowers. That would make it
likely a member of tribe Lactuceae, most of which have yellow flowers.
Tragopogon porrifolius (Salsify) is the only one that comes to mind with
purple flowers. I'm more used to see this, or rather the commoner
relative Tragopogon pratensis (Goatsbeard), side on, where the long,
narrow, phyllaries (bracts) are very obvious, but you can see them
sticking out beyond the ligules in your photograph.

So, if photgraphed in Britain, it's almost certainly Tragopogon
porrifolius. Stace mentions a Tragopogon hybridus which occurs very
occasionally in Britain, with pink-purple ligules, and I don't know what
can be found in the rest of the world.
