I'd like to grow a holly bush/tree. One of the Christmasy ones like Ilex
Opaca. Can anyone recommend the best way to do this? Where can I get one?

A guy in our street has one in his garden. Could I take a cutting from it?
What would be the best time to do this and what are the pitfalls?

Thanks in advance for any help

Apoogies; I could not resist; glad you have a sense of humour.
The Hungarian Fish Maple advice is also dodgy.

Growing hollies from cuttings is hard and slow, you'd need specialist
equipment.

Hollies in pots are easily available at all times of year in any
gardencentre, just dig a hole, remove pot, put plant in hole and tuck
the soil back round it.

Jenny

I'm near Edinburgh.

Thanks for the info. I've rooted house plants (Rubber plants etc) before so
I'll give this a whirl!
