Default hanging baskets

For the last three years a wren has made herself a home in the same basket
at my back door. ( the same one of two)
We have stopped watering the hanging basket concerned as soon as she
appears, the last three years all the chicks have been ok and flown.
We were thinking is it ok to keep watering the hanging basket, while the
bird is sitting on the nest, for the last three years we have just let the
plants die.
