Quick advice - Flymo vs Qualcast
I've got an overgrown mini lawn about 10'x20'
About to get my first mower & Trimmer. Homebase have 20% off today so I'm going for Strimmer = Black&Decker GL686 for 44.99-20% = £36 And choice of Flymo HC350(1500w) or Qualcast EasyTrak 320(1000w) both on sale 69.99 (Just spotted the Qualcast even cheaper at Argos though 54.99, which is interesting now Argos own Homebase) Anyway, just from an engineering perspective I suspect qualcast is simpler thus better. More watts are used for cutting the grass rather than hovering??? I've never used a mower before and hope to purchase in the next hour (Else I'll have to leave it 'till tomorrow) Any suggestions which? Cheers, Lordy |

No cords, no hassle, not expensive (38 quid at Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...216187-6640755). Somehow the simplicity of it makes me smile and cut the lawn more often. A few caveats, though.... (1) cutting width is small (30cm), so only good for small lawns (2) grass catcher is rudimentary and somewhat awkward. I sometimes use it, but it falls off fairly easily and makes maneuvering a little more difficult. (3) the side wheel drive means you can't cut too close to the edges. I've adjusted my lawn and border design to make this easy, though. FWIW |

I've a lawn of about 30' x 20' and after the first cust of the year the hand push mower is more efficient and faster than any of the powered mowers. |
